My birthday cake from work (someone else decorated it for me). Cheesecake ice cream with black cherries and chocolate shavings, devil's food cake, and chocolate ganache. It was YUM!

Taking refuge from the cold: heater under my sewing desk + heater in the floor = warm feet, but that's about it.

A beautiful stack of Anna Maria Horner's fabric I won! Can't wait to make a gorgeous quilt with this.

The luck of the Irish was on my side, I found the iPod cable Curt thought he lost! Now I can jam to anything I want while driving.

I not only said goodbye to my Michigan license today, but also my 21-year-old self. My hair is about five inches longer, my bangs are about five inches shorter, and I'm now a legal resident of the state of Tennessee.

Spent the day working on my DQS10 mini, featuring an appliqued Red Riding Hood. Still have to sew & attach the patchwork border and maybe add eyes. Then quilt it and I'm done!

I finished sewing a bunch of baby stuff for my friend, I love the stripes and polka dots, so perfect for little boys!

Fifty!

I sat down to sew but got distracted by my studio space and decided to rearrange. Ignore the piles of fabric, I was mid-project when the interior design inspiration struck. I'm enjoying my new layout now and the room feels much larger. Plus my bins of fabric have a home in that makeshift shelf now!

I've been looking for cheap measuring cups for Curt and finally spotted some on clearance at Target. He measures out everything on his new diet, which is a major pain, but seems to be working because he's lost over 20 pounds! Now Curt has his own set so ours won't go missing (usually in the dishwasher, which annoys me).

I worked on baby shoes for a friend to gift. While working I was listening to a Genius Playlist created from a Mumford & Sons song and I got to jamming and totally stopped paying attention to my sewing, thus creating a bit of mismatched lining in the shoes. Shhh ... I trust you will keep my secret.

My dad requested a quilt for a upcoming baby who will be an American citizen born to a family from India. Her citizenship will help them become American citizens too. So red, white, and blue (and a lot of pink too) was obviously necessary.

I've been trying to wrap my head around the construction of a purse for my sister for two months now. I finally took the plunge and just started sewing. I'm happy so far, still have to add a flap, a snap, and a strap. That shouldn't be hard.

The willow tree in front of our house sprouted leaves literally overnight. Probably something to do with the ridiculous amount of rain we've received lately. I hate the rain but I love the green!

Lots of bubble baths happening over here. Pretty much every night. My preferred bubble is actually B&BW body wash. Gladly accepting donations, any flavor, but I really like midnight pomegranate and sensual amber ;)

Second day without Curt, trying to keep it healthy.
Except I dipped these in queso.
Don't judge.

Forty! and March!

3.1.2011

The first of March marks the first day of life without Curt around for awhile. I dropped the boys at the airport this morning, they spent the day traveling to LA, and are now en route to Melbourne, flying somewhere over the ocean as I type.
Total baggage for two musicians: 14 pieces, including carry-ons. There was a bit of an overage fee at the counter .. but the lady was friendly, which makes it a little easier. Here's hoping they (and all that luggage) make it to Australia safely and happily.
I'll be here at home, safe, but not happy.
