Is it really February already?! January really flew by, but it's been nice enjoying a hot start to the year instead of a snowy one!
Have I told you about the van we are traveling in yet? It's a beast. A giant box on wheels. It's on loan from one of the camps and I'm terribly frightened every time I ride in it.
It's a manual, which in itself is enough to make me nervous, but there's something wrong with third gear. If the clutch isn't pushed waaaaay in, it makes an awful noise and doesn't change gears. This has happened on a very, very steep hill.
And the clutch.. it leaks. Curt wears an old sock on that foot so the drips don't get on his shoes.
It smells like gas and so does everything in it. It gives me a migraine when I ride in it.
I'm constantly afraid that we will hit a large bump and the wheels will just fall off the axle or the four sides will just fall open like in a cartoon.
But you know what? It's a vehicle. And it's free. And it gets us from point A to point B. And we may not be riding in style, but gosh darn, we are riding.
And I have faith the Lord will keep us safe in it as we travel. Heaven knows how many prayers I've muttered from the front seat of that van. So if you would like to pray for us, pray for safety as we travel. Pray that those joining us have safe travels. And pray third gear doesn't give out on any more hills.
